FAMILY HEALTH PLEDGE:
  • One of the best methods to help from spreading sickness is keeping symptomatic children, or children who are known to be exposed to Covid-positive or flu or cold-like persons, home in quarantine.
  • For the well-being of all students, staff and other families, avoid unnecessary risks for potential exposure from people and places visited.
  • Teach and reinforce handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and teach my child(ren) to cover coughs and sneezes with an elbow or tissue.
  • In the event that a child develops symptoms parents will work closely with St. Mary School and, where applicable, cooperate with the public health department.
2021-22 COVID-19 SPECIFIC STRATEGIES:

Facial coverings - Starting Tuesday, September 7th, students in grades PK4, Y5, and Kindergarten through 8th, without a medical exemption, should be sent to school with a mask in their possession.  (If you do not have one on such short notice, please know that the school has a significant supply of unopened, new face masks from last year.)

Drop off - We are expecting each family to drop off students at the normal, north entrance parking lot and only students will enter the school building.  PK students, with their parents, may still park and walk their student in, if necessary, but will be expected to wear a face mask in communal areas, i.e. the hallway.

Distancing – Desks/seating for students will be spread out at a distance of 3-6 feet as feasible.

Ventilation – Teachers will be encouraged to open windows to help keep the circulation of fresh air.  Air purifiers will be restocked with fresh, new filters and continue to be used in each classroom.

Hand washing and respiratory etiquette – Teachers will address and help reinforce the importance of hand washing and coughing/sneezing etiquette.

Cleaning and disinfecting – Facilities and classroom teachers will continue to clean surfaces that could contain residual droplets from participants between classrooms and each evening, after school.

Contract tracing and individual/cohort isolation and quarantining – Staying in communication with the school office will help us isolate individuals, cohorts, or families where quarantining is required. See the Ingham County Mandate on quarantine and isolation.  The school office will work closely with each family to determine what protocols or actions will be necessary.

School Visitors – Starting Tuesday, September 7th, no adult will be able to enter the building, with the exception of AM PK drop off parents and half-day PK pick up parents, without a prior appointment and approval.  Please call the school office to make an appointment with the principal in order to enter the building.

God Bless
