As students of St. Mary Catholic School, we want to reflect modesty, dignity, humility, unity with one another, and pride in our school and parish. Our blue and white colors reflect our devotion to our school patroness, the Blessed Mother.
St. Mary students learn discipline and establish standards of behavior and mutual respect by wearing their uniform. These characteristics lead each person, even the youngest students, to develop self-control and self-respect. The required uniform unites the entire student body and becomes an outward sign of our common goals and purpose of St. Mary School. Kindergarten through eighth grade students are brought together simply by wearing a shared uniform. Within our community, our school uniform distinguishes our students as representatives of St. Mary Catholic School. Our uniform dress code is based on plain, sensible attire that is appropriate for both school and church. The wearing of a uniform continues the lengthy tradition in Catholic schools. • Hair, Hygiene & Grooming – All students should come to school clean and well-groomed. Grooming for all students should be in keeping with the student’s age.
o Hair shall be groomed so that both eyes are always visible.
o Hair for boys in pre-K – 8 must be above the shirt collar.
o Hair may not be dyed or unusually colored.
o Haircuts with symbols or letters cut into it are not allowed.
o Boys must be clean shaven. No mustaches, beards, and goatees are allowed.
o Make-up on pre-K – 8 students is not allowed at school (girls 6th-8th grades may wear clear lip gloss or chapstick – NO sparkles).
o No visible tattoos, fake or otherwise.
• Jewelry
o Students who choose to wear jewelry may be asked to remove it in physical education class or when it becomes a distraction or a safety hazard. Only post earrings may worn.
o Ear piercings are the only piercings allowed, and only upon girls.
• Clothing
o Students may wear plain white t-shirts under uniform shirts. Any long or short sleeve t-shirt should not be visible under a uniform shirt.
o Pants are to be worn at the waist, not sagging, baggy and undergarments should not be visible at any time.
o Sweatshirts are not part of the school uniform. Sweatshirts may not be worn during the day in school or during Mass.
o No shoe worn may have flashing lights, hidden wheels, jewels, fur, characters or emit noises. Plastic footwear, flip-flops, sandals, ballet flats, boots, slippers, moccasins, ankle boots, cowboy boots, work boots, any kind of fashion boot or crocs are not allowed.
o Shoes with laces must be tied.
o Shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee.
o Skirts/skorts and jumpers must be knee length.
o Hats are to be worn outside only.
o Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
• Out-of Uniform Days – Dress-up = concert or Spirit Days.
Students are expected to dress in clean, neat, and modest attire.

Girls – Dresses and skirts must be knee length. Spaghetti and bare shoulders must be covered with a sweater or shirt. No bare mid-drifts. Dress shoes with a 2-inch heel or less may be worn, open toe is acceptable.
Boys – Dress slacks, dress shirt and dress shoes are acceptable. Ties and sport coats are optional. Hats are to be worn outside only.
o Spirit Dress
Spirit Wear will be allowed only on designated days determined by staff.
Parents will be notified on monthly calendar and by school bulletins.
SPIRIT WEAR WILL NO LONGER BE ALLOWED ON THURSDAYS.
Approved spirit wear tops are: St. Mary 5K Run/Walk t-shirt or designated St. Mary Spirit wear t-shirts.
If jeans are allowed on a designated day they must be free of holes and rips. No yoga pants or tight fitting stretch pants may be worn. Shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee.

• SKIRT – St. Mary blue/white PLAID 2-kick pleated skirt worn at (must touch) the knee. Navy
“modesty” shorts (bike shorts must not be visible), navy tights, or ankle length navy leggings
(NO jeggings) must be worn under skirt. SKIRT MUST BE KNEE LENGTH. NO NAVY
SKORT/SKIRT.
• POLO – Light blue or Navy, long or short sleeve polo with St. Mary Logo. Polos with ruffles or
ruched sleeves are NOT permitted.
OR QUARTER ZIP PULLOVER – Navy with St. Mary logo.
NAVY CARDIGAN (St. Mary Logo optional) or NAVY FLEECE (w/St. Mary Logo)
• SOCKS – Solid navy or white knee-high socks, navy or white cuff socks, navy tights or ankle
length navy leggings. Cuff Socks must be worn with ankle length navy leggings (Jeggings &/or
“No-show” socks are NOT permitted). (NO company logos).
• SHOES – Solid color, single color; Black or Navy dress shoes or Black or Navy athletic shoes
(no flashing lights, hidden wheels, etc.) No ballet flats, boots, slippers, moccasins, ankle boots,
work boots or crocs. Shoes for Physical Education Class (necessary IF athletic shoes are not
worn as part of school uniform). Any color and style of athletic shoe may be worn for Physical
Education class. Following PE class, students will be required to change back into their school
uniform shoes.
• ACCESSORIES – Hair accents must be simple, matching St. Mary plaid uniform or neutral
colors such as navy and white. The only jewelry permitted is a religious medal and simple
post earrings. (NO dangling earrings). Wristwatches are permitted. NO visible tattoos, fake or
otherwise.

• PANTS – Navy chino. Plain or pleated front pants (shorts 1st and 4th quarter only). No cargo
style, extra buttons, extra pockets, extra zippers or extra stitching.

ADDITIONAL
• Hair, Hygiene & Grooming – All students should come to school clean and well-groomed. Grooming for all students should be in keeping with the student’s age.
o Hair shall be groomed so that both eyes are always visible.
o Hair for boys in pre-K – 8 must be above the shirt collar.
o Hair may not be dyed or unusually colored.
o Haircuts with symbols or letters cut into it are not allowed.
o Boys must be clean shaven. No mustaches, beards, and goatees are allowed.
o Make-up on pre-K – 8 students is not allowed at school (girls 6th-8th grades may wear clear lip gloss or chapstick – NO sparkles).
o No visible tattoos, fake or otherwise.
• Jewelry
o Students who choose to wear jewelry may be asked to remove it in physical education class or when it becomes a distraction or a safety hazard. Only post earrings may worn.
o Ear piercings are the only piercings allowed, and only upon girls.
• Clothing
o Students may wear plain white t-shirts under uniform shirts. Any long or short sleeve t-shirt should not be visible under a uniform shirt.
o Pants are to be worn at the waist, not sagging, baggy and undergarments should not be visible at any time.
o Sweatshirts are not part of the school uniform. Sweatshirts may not be worn during the day in school or during Mass.
o No shoe worn may have flashing lights, hidden wheels, jewels, fur, characters or emit noises. Plastic footwear, flip-flops, sandals, ballet flats, boots, slippers, moccasins, ankle boots, cowboy boots, work boots, any kind of fashion boot or crocs are not allowed.
o Shoes with laces must be tied.
o Shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee.
o Skirts/skorts and jumpers must be knee length.
o Hats are to be worn outside only.
o Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
• Out-of Uniform Days – Dress-up = concert or Spirit Days.
Students are expected to dress in clean, neat, and modest attire.
o Dress Up = concert
Girls – Dresses and skirts must be knee length. Spaghetti and bare shoulders must be covered with a sweater or shirt. No bare mid-drifts. Dress shoes with a 2-inch heel or less may be worn, open toe is acceptable.
Boys – Dress slacks, dress shirt and dress shoes are acceptable. Ties and sport coats are optional. Hats are to be worn outside only.
o Spirit Dress
Spirit Wear will be allowed only on designated days determined by staff.
Parents will be notified on monthly calendar and by school bulletins.
SPIRIT WEAR WILL NO LONGER BE ALLOWED ON THURSDAYS.
Approved spirit wear tops are: St. Mary 5K Run/Walk t-shirt or designated St. Mary Spirit wear t-shirts.
If jeans are allowed on a designated day they must be free of holes and rips. No yoga pants or tight fitting stretch pants may be worn. Shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee.

• Field Trip Attire – Students are to be in school uniform for field trips, unless instructed otherwise by the staff member in charge.
